چکیده

Traditional computer graphics methods render images that appear sharp at all depths. Adding blur can add realism to a scene, provide a sense of scale, and draw a viewer s attention to a particular region of a scene. Our image-based blur algorithm needs to distinguish whether a portion of an image is either from a single object or is part of more than one object. This motivates two approaches to identify objects after an image has been rendered. We illustrate how these techniques can be used in conjunction with our image space method to add blur to a scene. 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. PACS: 42.30.Va; 42.66.Si

Vision-Realistic Rendering: Simulation of the Scanned Foveal Image with Elimination of Artifacts due to Occlusion and Discretization

We introduce the concept of vision-realistic rendering – the computer generation of synthetic images that incorporate the characteristics of a particular individual’s entire optical system. Specifically, this paper develops a method for simulating the scanned foveal image from wavefront data of actual human subjects, and demonstrates those methods on sample images. First, a subject’s optical sy...

Image Zooming using Non-linear Partial Differential Equation

The main issue in any image zooming techniques is to preserve the structure of the zoomed image. The zoomed image may suffer from the discontinuities in the soft regions and edges; it may contain artifacts, such as image blurring and blocky, and staircase effects. This paper presents a novel image zooming technique using Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). It combines a non-linear Fourth-ord...

Improving Super-resolution Techniques via Employing Blurriness Information of the Image

Super-resolution (SR) is a technique that produces a high resolution (HR) image via employing a number of low resolution (LR) images from the same scene. One of the degradations that attenuates performance of the SR is the blurriness of the input LR images. In many previous works in the SR, the blurriness of the LR images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the image sensor of the im...

An Efficient Curvelet Framework for Denoising Images

Wiener filter suppresses noise efficiently. However, it makes the out image blurred. Curvelet preserves the edges of natural images perfectly, but, it produces visual distortion artifacts and fuzzy edges to the restored image, especially in homogeneous regions of images. In this paper, a new image denoising framework based on Curvelet transform and wiener filter is proposed, which can stop nois...

High-Quality Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion using Temporal Coherence

Ambient occlusion is a cheap but effective approximation of global illumination. Recently, screen-space ambient occlusion (SSAO) methods, which sample the frame buffer as a discretization of the scene geometry, have become very popular for real-time rendering. We present temporal SSAO (TSSAO), a new algorithm which exploits temporal coherence to produce high-quality ambient occlusion in real ti...
